Lufthansa raises fuel surcharge

Cologne, Germany -- Lufthansa has announced it is adjusting its fuel surcharge on all its flights amid increasing fuel costs.

The German airline is raising the fuel surcharge on long-haul routes to more than $52 per flight segment.

The fuel surcharge on domestic German and intra-European routes will increase $13 per flight leg.

The increases will apply to tickets issued on or after May 14.

"Lufthansa continually monitors oil prices and will make any future adjustments to the fuel surcharge dependent on further trends in the price of jet fuel," the company said in a statement.

Cologne, Germnay-based Lufthansa last increased its fuel surcharge on European flights on March 13, 2008, and on long-haul flights November 14, 2007.
