New York -- More than 100 professional stand-up comedians plan to set the Guinness World Record for longest stand-up comedy show in New York next month, organizers said.

The show at the World Famous Comic Strip Live club is to begin June 3 at 8:30 p.m. EDT, June 3 and end at 10:30 p.m. EDT, June 5.

Proceeds from the event are to benefit USO Metropolitan New York, an organization that helps U.S. troops and their families.

"The USO is honored to be chosen as the designated charity for this very
special event. Not only will Comic Strip Live be providing 50 straight hours of countless laughs, they will also be directly contributing to those men and women who preserve our way of life," Colin Patrick Balfe, USO Partnership development manager, said in a statement.

"This is a perfect event for the city that never sleeps," added club manager and booker Josh Ravitz. "For two days, at any hour you can see great comedy and help our troops at the same time."

Comic icons Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler performed at the club earlier in their careers.
