Cincinnati -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of Private Selection-brand light churned mint chocolate chip ice cream due to a labeling error.
The FDA said the manufacturer, Inter-American Products Inc. of Cincinnati, a division of The Kroger Co., said the recalled ice cream has a "Sell By" date of Dec. 3. The recalled product has two production codes -- "DEC0308 8070" and "DEC0308 8080."
Kroger said the ice cream might contain egg, soy and wheat, which are not listed in the ingredient statement, thereby posing a health hazard for people allergic to those ingredients.
The ice cream was distributed to Kroger stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Customers can return the ice cream for a refund or contact American Products at 800-697-2448 for additional information.
