Chinese-made toy dart boards are recalled

Washington -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of 870,000 Fun 'N Games-brand toy magnetic dart boards because of a safety hazard.

Washington -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of 870,000 Fun 'N Games-brand toy magnetic dart boards because of a safety hazard.

The CPSC said the Chinese-manufactured boards, imported by Henry Gordy International Inc. of Plainfield, N.J., have small magnets at the ends of the darts that can detach and be swallowed or aspirated by children. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.

The recall involves toy magnetic dart boards about 5 1/2 inches wide with a black, green, blue, and white checkered design, and a red bulls-eye. The boards were sold with two 2 3/4-inch-long magnetic darts that magnetically attract to the dart board.

The boards were sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores nationwide from September 2002 through March 2008 for about $1.

Consumers can return the dart boards by first class mail to Henry Gordy International Inc., 809A Market Street, Hermann, Mo., 65041 for a full refund including tax and shipping costs.

Consumer wishing additional information can contact the company at 888-790-2700.
