Hanoi, Vietnam -- Vietnam and China are working toward closer economic ties and making sure their borders are properly defined, government officials said Friday.
Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung meet with visiting Chinese official Guo Shengkun of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Party Region this week, promising to accelerate work on road projects that would connect the two countries.
Trade between Vietnam and the region reached $2.4 billion in 2007, 15.7 percent of the trade between the two countries, Vietnam News reported.
On Wednesday, Guo Shengkun met with Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh. The two agreed to continue to cooperate on border demarcation, the report said.
