New York -- Crude oil prices fell on the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday on a sell off provoked by a stronger dollar and worries of declining demands.

Prices have fallen substantially from last Monday, when they peaked at $111.80 per barrel.

"A lot of people are still eying the dollar and what it does," Eric Wittenauer, energy analyst at A.G. Edwards told The Wall Street Journal. "If it continues to perform well, it may help direct prices back down."

On the exchange, crude oil prices fell 81 cents Monday to $100.44 a barrel.

Heating oil prices fell slightly to $2.963 per gallon, down 0.0001 cents in late trading.

The price of reformulated blendstock gasoline fell 0.0112 cents in late trading to $2.63 per gallon.

Natural gas prices gained 0.006 cents to $9.335 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline fell to $3.26 per gallon Monday from Sunday's $3.264 per gallon, the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
