Ottawa -- Health Canada announced a recall of PediaCol drops -- used to relieve infants of excessive gas associated with colic -- due to possible contamination.
Officials said the product, labeled with the lot number PDC701, was found to be contaminated with yeast and might pose serious health risks, especially for children with weakened immune systems.
The medication's manufacturer, Euro-Pharm International Canada Inc., said PediaCol is available at pharmacies across Canada and over the Internet.
Consumers can return the unopened product to the place of purchase and should also discard any bottles that might have been used to store the medication.
Consumers with questions can contact Health Canada at 613-957-2991 or toll free at 866-225-0709.
