Bloomington, Ind. -- Harry Gonso, who played football at Indiana University, has been selected to lead the 10-person committee to find the Hoosiers' next basketball coach.
The committee members were revealed Monday by Indiana University President Michael McRobbie. The Hoosiers have been without a full-time head coach since Kelvin Sampson resigned Feb. 22 following accusations of NCAA rules violations.
Dan Dakich has been coaching the Hoosiers since Sampson left and will take the team through the rest of the season. Indiana was selected for the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, receiving a No. 8 seeding. The Hoosiers play Arkansas in the first round Friday.
Gonso is a former school trustee who played quarterback for Indiana from 1967-69. He led the team to the Rose Bowl in 1967.
Other members of the search committee, all affiliated with Indiana University, are: Athletic Director Rick Greenspan; James Wimbush, dean of Indiana's graduate school; Vice President Bill Stephan; Jerry Yeagley, former soccer coach; Ken Beckley, former president of the alumni association; Grace Calhoun, associate athletic director for compliance; Professor Bruce Jaffee; Wayne Radford, former Indiana basketball player; and Jennifer Sinclair, president of the varsity club.
