Ottawa -- Health Canada officials are warning consumers not to use ADAM, an unauthorized product promoted for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Ottawa -- Health Canada officials are warning consumers not to use ADAM, an unauthorized product promoted for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Officials said the medication contains undeclared ingredients similar to the prescription drug sildenafil, posing serious health risks, especially for people with heart-related problems or those at risk for strokes.

The distributor of ADAM -- Natural Health Solutions -- has initiated a voluntary recall of ADAM, officials said. The product had been sold at retail outlets across Canada and on the Internet.

Consumers requiring more information can contact Health Canada's public inquiries line at 866-225-0709.
