Minneapolis -- Free-agent wide receiver Bernard Berrian of the Chicago Bears has signed with NFC North Division rival Minnesota.
The NFL Network reported the four-year veteran signed for $42 million over six years, with $16 million guaranteed. The deal reportedly makes him the league's fourth-highest paid receiver.
Last season, the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder -- a third-round draft pick by the Bears in 2004 out of Fresno State -- scored five touchdowns with 71 catches for 951 yards.
"I just saw the upside that was here going on with the team," Berrian said. "I think they've got a great defense. Both lines, the defensive line and the offensive line are great. They've got a great running back (Adrian Peterson) which we all know. I think just the key part they were missing was a receiver out there to take some pressure off of that running game."
In his career, Berrian has compiled 13 touchdowns on 150 receptions for 2,197 yards in 58 contests. His numbers have gone up each season.
