Los Angeles -- The big-screen Hollywood musical "Hairspray," which is now available on DVD, is slated to be re-released in two U.S. theaters.
New Line Cinema announced it is re-releasing the movie for a special one-week return engagement Jan. 4-10 exclusively at the Laemmle's Sunset-5 theater in Los Angeles and Landmark's Sunshine Cinema theater in New York.
To kick off the film's re-release, "Hairspray" star John Travolta will participate in Q & A sessions with the audience at the Jan. 4 Los Angeles screenings.
The screenings also coincide with the 30th anniversary of Travolta's first musical movie "Saturday Night Fever," for which he earned an Oscar nomination in 1978.
"Hairspray" grossed more than $200 million at the worldwide box office and is the third highest grossing musical of all time, New Line Cinema said.
The movie also earned numerous accolades this awards season including Golden Globe nominations for best picture, best actress for Nikki Blonsky and best supporting actor for Travolta.
