Personal consumption rose in November

Washington -- Personal income, disposable income and personal consumption all increased in November, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Friday.

Personal income increased $43.1 billion, or 0.4 percent, while disposable personal income
grew $32.9 billion, or 0.3 percent, in November, the Commerce Department bureau said in a release.

Personal consumption expenditures also increased $110.6 billion, or 1.1 percent, the bureau said.

In October, personal income increased $24.8 billion, or 0.2 percent; disposable income rose $17.0 billion, or 0.2 percent; and personal consumption grew $39.4 billion, or 0.4 percent, based on revised estimates.

The price index for personal consumption expenditures also rose in November, increasing 0.6 percent compared with a 0.3-percent increase in October. The bureau said most of the November increase could be attributed to increases in energy prices.

The personal consumption expenditures price index, excluding food and energy, increased 0.2 percent, the same as in October.
