New York -- Former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell's report on performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball names more than 60 people, a report said Wednesday.
The report Mitchell spent 21 months researching was first reviewed by baseball officials at Mitchell's New York office Tuesday night. It is scheduled for public release Thursday, and a source familiar with it told the New York Daily News it names 60-80 current and former players who used human growth hormone, steroids, amphetamines and other drugs.
Baseball officials were given 48 hours to review the report to ensure there are no disclosures of confidential information that would violate the collective bargaining agreement, the News said.
Players union chief Don Fehr said the players association had asked to see the report in advance as well, but was denied, USA Today reported.
