After Edmonton goalie Mathieu Garon stopped Brad Isbister, Horcoff's wrist shot eluded Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo, banging off the left post and into the net.

Tom Gilbert and Horcoff each had a goal and an assist in regulation for Edmonton. Garon made 20 saves for the Oilers, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Alexander Edler and Markus Naslund each had a goal and an assist, while Luongo made 25 saves for the Canucks, who had won five of their six previous games.

Edmonton controlled play in the early part of the contest and took a 1-0 lead on the power play. The game went back and forth with Vancouver taking a 4-3 lead with a power-play goal by Naslund with 12:26 left in regulation. Edmonton tied it up less than a minute later with a power-play goal by Dustin Penner.
