Arlington, Texas -- Michael Young had a home run and four RBI Monday as the Texas Rangers edged the Los Angeles Angels 8-7.

Bill White (2-0) earned the victory with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Armando Galarraga gave up five earned runs on four hits in his first major league start but did not get the final out of the fifth inning to get the win.
Catcher Gerald Laird went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs scored.
Laird also threw out a pair of baserunners for the Rangers, who won for the third time in their last four games.
Losing pitcher Ervin Santana (7-14) worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing six earned runs on eight hits.
Casey Kotchman hit a two-run home run and Juan Rivera had two RBI for the Angels, who have lost four of their last five and are a game behind Cleveland in the race for home-field advantage in the American League playoffs.
