Los Angeles -- Troubled pop star Britney Spears will not make an appearance on Sunday's Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles, Usmagazine.com reported Friday.
"Britney Spears has no plans to appear on the Emmys this Sunday," a spokesperson for Jive, Spears's label," told the Web site.
An Emmy Awards show source said Fox had been "in negotiations" with Spears' camp in an attempt persuade her to appear on the high-profile kudos-fest.
The source told Us that the idea, which was eventually nixed, was "to have her come on and apologize" for her widely panned performance on the MTV Video Music Awards gala last Sunday.
Before discussions ended, Emmy telecast host Ryan Seacrest told "Extra": "I'm trying to figure out how Britney fits into the context of television's biggest night … I don't know anything about it … it's a possible first step."
