Showtime working with Spielberg on series

Los Angeles -- Showtime reportedly is working on a new half-hour comedy series based on an idea of Steven Spielberg's about a woman with multiple-personality disorder.

Variety said plans for a pilot for "The United States of Tara," produced by Spielberg's DreamWorks Television, were announced Saturday at a Television Critics Association event.

Showtime is describing it as a cross between its quirky dark comedy series "Weeds" and the dissociative identity disorder classic "Sybil."
Production on the pilot is expected to begin in the fall.

The lead role has not yet been cast, but Robert Greenblatt, Showtime's entertainment president, said the network is getting closer to a decision.
