Giambi meets Mitchell in steroid probeby MT Bureau - July 14, 2007 - 0 comments
New York -- New York Yankees designated hitter Jason Giambi Friday met with former Sen. George Mitchell, D-Maine, as part of an inquiry into steroid use in baseball. Giambi has been a central figure in the investigation because of his testimony before a grand jury four years ago -- which The San Francisco Chronicle later said included an admission that he used steroids and human growth hormone. In addition, Giambi has been quoted by USA Today as saying baseball needs to apologize for the issue of steroids in the sport. No details of Friday's meeting were released. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig asked Giambi last month to visit with Mitchell, who is leading the investigation. Copyright 2007 by United Press International. Post new comment |
