London -- The BBC apologized to the British queen and an American photographer after a promotional trailer wrongly showed the queen storming out of a photo shoot.
The BBC said the trailer, designed to advertise the documentary series "A Year With The Queen," was misleading in indicating the queen left the shoot when Annie Leibovitz -- known for her covers on Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair magazines -- asked her to remove her crown.
However, BBC officials Thursday admitted the footage was actually filmed as the queen made her way to the sitting and her comments about "not changing anything" to her lady-in-waiting were uttered before the shoot began, the Times of London reported.
"In this trailer there is a sequence that implies that the queen left a sitting prematurely," the BBC said in a statement. "This was not the case and the actual sequence of events was misrepresented. The BBC would like to apologize to both the queen and Annie Leibovitz for any upset this may have caused."
Buckingham Palace said it would not issue a comment regarding the apology.
