Moscow, Rwanda -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that if his nation's bid for the 2014 Olympics is chosen, Russia would make sure it is a well-run event.
Meeting with Russian Olympic champions, Putin said Russia has high hopes for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which his nation would hold at the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, RIA Novosti reported.
"We hope for an objective, well-meaning and professional approach for selecting the host city," Putin said.
Russia is in competition for the international sports competition with Austria and South Korea, which are planning the event in their cities of Salzburg and PyeongChang, respectively.
RIA Novosti said the International Olympic Committee will announce the city that will host the 2014 Olympic Games Wednesday in Guatemala.
