Jupiter, Fla. -- The Jupiter, Fla., guest house on property owned by top-ranked men's golfer Tiger Woods was destroyed by a fire Friday morning.
Several media reports said the house, located on a 12-acre compound, wasn't occupied.
Local and state fire personnel have started an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
"When we arrived, the house was heavily involved," Martin County (Fla.) Fire Rescue spokesman Jim Loffredo told the Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Flames were coming out through the roof and the house was pretty much fully engulfed in fire."
Loffredo also told the newspaper he believed the items in the house belonged to the structure's former owner, who leases the house as a vacation home.
Woods hadn't made a comment as of late Friday afternoon. He is taking an extended break from his PGA schedule after the birth of his first child.
