London -- Police diffused a car bomb found outside a London nightclub Thursday and were searching the city for more explosive devices.
Witnesses told The Times of London that police were called to the Tiger Tiger nightclub after a man ran from a Mercedes Benz that he had driven into some garbage bins. The car contained gas cans and nails, witnesses said.
"They discovered what appeared to be a potentially viable explosive device.
This was made safe," a police statement said. "The MPS Counter Terrorism Command has launched an investigation.
On Thursday, police searched every car entering the All England Club at Wimbledon, leading to long lines at the tennis tournament, the Times reported.
The newspaper said that police were believed to be searching "iconic" sites in London, such as the Tower of London, as well.
The Piccadilly Circus station was closed Thursday, as were many roads in central London, the Times reported.
