'American Idol' heads to San Diego

San Diego --

San Diego -- "American Idol" has announced it will hold auditions for the first time in San Diego, Calif.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday tryouts for the seventh season of the top-rated show are scheduled for July 30 at Qualcomm Stadium.

Although San Diego is the only West Coast stop announced so far, super-star hopefuls can also audition in Dallas, Atlanta and Philadelphia.

An estimated 20,000 people started lining up at 3 a.m. for last year's first cull at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
