Little known tax savings tips

We should make this a thread where everyone can post their little tax savings secrets, the ones others may not know about.

As for mine, being a unniversity student I use public transportation for the most part, and recently found out that I can save all of my monhtly bus passes and claim them on my income tax at the end of the year. These savings are not limited to just students either, so if you are a person who uses public tansportation, you should check to see if you can do this also. It adds up to a little over $600 a year in a tax break for me.
