Indian Airlines pilot to get 45% increase in salary

Indian Airlines has raised salary of its pilots by 45% to make it competitive with the salary offered by private sector rivals adding to a Rs50 crore annual burden on airlines. Additionally commitment has been obtained from pilots over the stopover issue, thereby allowing airlines to service more passengers and tap more sectors.

At present entry-level pilots get Rs90,000 pm while senior pilots get Rs3 lakh p.m, which shall now shoot to Rs1.3 lakh for entry level and Rs4.35 lakh p.m for senior pilots.

The stopovers will enable the airline to increase its market share in the smaller cities where private, low-cost carriers are doing brisk business.
