Recently a credit card company issued me a free membership card with credit value of Rs21,000/-. Almost a month later, competitior issued me a free card as well. I thought, crads for free! WOW!
I went on shopping spree and purchased goods worth Rs12,000/-, something i would not have done had i paid anything in cash.
It was free card, and I just forgot that there is some price to pay once the statement reaches me. I took a lesson there - to stop using card more than required.
Last week, one of my friends was ill and some money was needed. Being 1am in morning and banks closed, I used one of the cards and it turned out to be blessing as, otherwise it would have been little difficult to arrange for money for his emergency operation in a pvt. hospital.
I personally feel, plastic currency is fine till one remembers the mantra of not overspending, otherwise it is a curse if you don't manage your spendings well.

Credit cards are a blight on
Credit cards are a blight on the earth! I apologize for being so hyperbolic about this, but they caused me far more ill than good. I had one time, about a year ago, when I needed some money that I did not have. I got a cash advance online. There are many companies that will get you emergency money quickly. I used this one, http://www.nationalpayday.com, but there are many of them. This is not an advisable means of getting money, but better than credit cards!
