Building on the hype generated by its flagship Galaxy Note series of gadgets, Korean electronics major Samsung has confirmed the launch of Galaxy Mega phablet sporting 6.3-inch HD screen.

The Mega phablet will be rolled out across the globe this year. It will be released in Europe and Russia in May and in the other parts of the world later on.

Samsung describes Mega as, “The newest addition to the GALAXY family balances an optimal viewing experience on a 6.3-inch HD screen, yet is ultra-thin and portable enough to put into a pocket or hold in one hand. The GALAXY Mega offers a mix of popular smartphone and tablet features such as an effortless user experience, a split screen, multitasking between video and other apps and more.”

JK Shin, CEO Samsung’s mobile business, said that Mega will provide yet another opportunity to users looking for a mobile gadget with a large screen. He says, “We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more. We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series.”

Samsung is all over the market these days. It is offering everything that one could yearn for - high end smartphones that compete with the likes of iPhone and HTC smartphones, budget phones, tablets and what not! Hence, its latest move of ramping up its phablet line should hardly come as a surprise!

Samsung Galaxy Mega phablet features

The Galaxy Mega phablet sports a huge 6.3-inch HD screen and is powered by 1.7GHz processor. Its another offering, the 5.8-inch Mega phablet boasts a QHD display, and is powered by 1.4 GHz processor. Both the gadgets have support for up to 64GB and have 1.5GB RAM. The battery capacity is 3200mAh and 2400mAh respectively.

Some of the interesting features of the two include S Travel, Story Album, Group Play, Samsung WatchON’, Samsung Link, S Translator, and Chat ON. S Travel provides latest travel information and Story Album is an excellent app for creating albums and arrange special moments in the form of a timeline.

The Group Play app helps sharing material among eight devices in a network. Samsung Link is another splendid app that lets you stream content to TV, computer or tablet.
