Amazon Kindle has revealed record breaking sales for its two models Kindle and Kindle HD

Amazon Kindle Fire is an important smart device that competes directly with Apple iPad, Microsoft Surface and others and priced far less than all.

The company started selling the device much before than Apple and Microsoft, to cover as much sales and boost their in the much anticipated holiday season. The company all overwhelmed by the response revealed that the smart device has been sold out worldwide and remained short of stock for some time.

The company didn't disclose the actual sales numbers, but claimed the top seller status based on unit sales.

The 7-inch device was first launched on September 6. Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos recently told the BBC that it sells the tablets at cost, hoping to generate profits when customers use the devices to buy products and services from the company.

The company had strategically announced the success, at the time Apple and Microsoft are all gearing up for the much talked about event launch.

Apple has launched its Mini device today, which will directly affect Amazon Kindle's sales. Earlier in September, two versions Kindle and Kindle HD were launched. While basic Kindle was weaker in screen resolution than Apple iPad, Kindle HD meets the standards registered by Apple iPad.

The HD version has an 11-hour battery life, a camera and 16 gigabytes of storage and will have easy access to Amazon's Kindle book service and the streaming service, LOVEFiLM, which is a subsidiary of the firm.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said: "Not only does Kindle Fire HD feature the most advanced hardware, it's also a service. When combined with our enormous content ecosystem, unmatched cross-platform interoperability, and standard-setting customer service, we hope people will agree that Kindle Fire HD is the best seven-inch tablet available anywhere, at any price."

The 7-inch Kindle HD one goes for $199 and an 8.9-inch one for $299. There's also a $499 model that is enabled to use the 4G cellular networks. The smaller HD model is already available, while the larger ones will be available Nov. 20.
