Excited people thronging the Denver area for the premiere of “Batman” at a movie theatre were brutally gunned down. Nearly 12 people had been ruthlessly massacred and 58 were wounded in a shooting rampage as they sat with their eyes glued to the screen to watch the super hero “Batman” in action. Police claim, the provisions received by the identified shooter ,James Holmes ,shows months of planning with "calculation and deliberation".

The Batman tragedy

A silhouetted man wearing black body armor and a gas mask shot at the movie lovers in the throes of a smoky mist snatching their life breath away, at the special midnight screening of movie “The Dark Knight rises”. 12 people lost their lives and 58 were wounded – 11 of them critically injured in “one of the deadliest mass shootings”.

The shooter had liberally used a military-style semi-automatic rifle, a pistol and a shotgun for the inhuman act. He marched up the aisle and fired mercilessly away. “He would reload and shoot and anyone who would try to leave would just get killed,” said a burn hurt Jennifer Seeger. “He looked like an assassin ready to go to war,” said a petrified Jordan Crofter, a moviegoer who escaped unhurt from the attack early Friday.

The accused

The ruthless shooter has been identified by police authorities as 24-year-old James Holmes. He has been found to be living just a few miles from the “ Century 16 “ a multiplex theatre where the tragedy took place .The deliveries received at his house and work place were dispatched from a local area markets and online ammunition orders. Dan Oates, the Aurora police chief states "This begins to explain how he got his hands on all the magazines and ammunition.”

The Aurora police authorities have meticulously disarmed his apartment and discovered it to be hoarded with booby trap explosives. "Given the amount of explosives that were there, if they detonated ideally, you would have had a very ample explosion with an ensuing thermal effect from the incendiary liquids that would have destroyed that apartment complex," claimed a law enforcement official.

"We also think it begins to explain some of the materials he had in his apartment," Oates exclaimed "What we're seeing here is evidence of some calculation and deliberation."

Holmes was arrested, equipped with an AR-15 assault rifle, a Glock .40-caliber handgun, and a 12-gauge shotgun. He was also carrying an extra Glock .40-caliber handgun in his automobile parked at the rear exit of the multiplex.

James Holmes, who had colored his hair red as "the Joker" a Batman's comic-book opponent, had been successfully detained within minutes at a parking lot behind the multiplex. The 24 year old graduate has been placed under solitary confinement to keep him away from the other inmates. Holmes’s initial court appearance is expected on Monday.
