Losing weight and quitting smoking were other reasons preferred by a third of women. Besides, timely exercises and a strict no to caffeine will also surge the chances of conceiving, alleged women.
Planning to start a family? A latest study reveals that women consider 29 to be the ideal age to have their first child.
The latest research conducted by Clearblue, a home fertility and pregnancy test company, found that nearly 59 percent women believed in having their first child at the age of 29.
They felt themselves to be financially secure by this age and in a position to manage the expenses of bringing up a child.
Women start mulling about their first child after having a long “loving and stable relationship” with their partners, reveals the study.
3,000 women surveyed
A survey was administered by the company among 3,000 women where the researchers recorded the reactions of a woman after encountering surging chances of becoming pregnant.
“It is interesting that the survey shows that 29 is a popular age to have a baby. Whatever your age, my advice is to stop smoking, cut down on alcohol and maintain a healthy weight before you start trying to conceive.”--Dr Dawn Harper
As per the findings, 70 percent women gave priority to consumption of healthy diet to conceive pregnancy.
While 42 percent women recommended giving up alcohol to have a healthy child, two-third women considered regular sex, to increase their chances of being new mothers.
Losing weight and quitting smoking were other reasons preferred by a third of women. Besides, timely exercises and a strict no to caffeine will also surge the chances of conceiving, alleged women.
As quoted by Daily Mail, Dr Dawn Harper, who co-presents Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies series, said, “It is interesting that the survey shows that 29 is a popular age to have a baby.
“Whatever your age, my advice is to stop smoking, cut down on alcohol and maintain a healthy weight before you start trying to conceive.”
Study receives mixed reactions
The research received a blend of positive and negative comments from the readers.
Though some prefer to work and have a baby before they reach their 30s, some objected the view of the author by alleging that they had their babies before 25 and were quite happy.
A reader commented on the Daily Mail portal, “I had my first son at 22 years old and my twin sons at 24. This was perfect for me (although all were very unplanned !!). I am now 41 and my eldest is 18 and the twins 16. I am still young enough to remember how its feels to be their age and old enough to advise them. Everybodys different.
Like Lennon said "life is what happens while you are making plans". So true.”
Contradicting the earlier view point, another comment read, “I do kind of agree with this survey. I could feel the clock ticking and "persuaded" my husband when we both reached thirty, I had my daughter at thirty one. My friend and I, the same age, were the oldest in antenatal. I had my son at thirty four. Looking back I do kind of wish I had been slightly younger. After a lovely father's day, my husband is the kind of dad everyone would want!!”
