It was just another day for Samantha, a Washington-based hiker, as she went hiking a couple of weekends back with her friends along the Spokane river. Well, that is until she got back home and saw the video she had taken.

The video has a moment when a strange, relatively huge, ape-like figure moves from the left to the right through the frame. Samantha says that she initially did not notice this movement as it was some distance away among the trees.

Bigfoot video a YouTube hit
Her video which she recently uploaded on YouTube has already garnered half a million hits in a matter of days.

Samantha was shooting the video in a wooded area near the Spokane River when a large, ape-like creature, apparently Bigfoot, happened to just pass by among the trees some distance away.

Stories of encounters with Bigfoot go as far as to the 1920s when a miner called Fred Beck reported that he and his group of four miners were attacked by huge ape men that threw rocks at their cabin in the area later called Ape Caynon.

Bigfoot happens to be a pretty huge half-ape, half-human creature which is believed to be an inhabitant of the forests in North America.

The creature is usually described to be large and heavy with an unusually large amount of body hair. It weighs around 500 pounds and reportedly has large eyes and a large, low-set forehead.

Huge footprints alleged to have been of Bigfoot have widely been seen and reported by many individuals.

Some people who have allegedly encountered Bigfoot say that the creature has a very unpleasant smell.

Scientists discount existence of Bigfoot
Scientists have been critical of the existence of such a creature. They argue that it is quite improbable for such a large, ape-like humanoid to exist.

Many scientists believe that Bigfoot is more of folklore or a misidentification rather than an actual biological creature.

It is not the first time that Bigfoot has been claimed to be seen by people or recorded on video.

Stories of encounters with Bigfoot go as far as to the 1920s when a miner called Fred Beck reported that he and his group of four miners were attacked by huge ape men that threw rocks at their cabin in the area later called Ape Caynon. Beck even said that the ape left behind massive footprints.

However, some historians have claimed that the story stems from an incident when hikers from a nearby camp threw rocks into the canyon where Beck and other miners were residing.

As recently as 2007, a photographer had reported to have captured Bigfoot on his camera that he had left attached to a tree in a forest in Pennsylvania.

Real or unreal, the Bigfoot video has been a massive hit on YouTube.
