Neglecting children results in bad behavior--survey

Parents failed to spend quality time with their kids as they were busy combating the daily hectic schedule, and consequently, lack of supervision made children brush up on whatever they saw on TV or computer.

Are you neglecting your child due to hectic daily schedules? If yes, pledge not to do it anymore, as a recent survey reveals that neglecting children leads to bad behavior in schools.

More than 8,000 teachers were questioned by the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT) regarding children's behaviour in school.

The findings of the survey were presented at the annual conference meet of teachers' union in Glasgow.

68% teachers claim lack of parents' support
During scrutiny of more than 8,000 teachers, it was unveiled that more than 68 percent of teachers alleged that lack of proper guidance and support from parents lead to children's misconduct in school.

“Teachers are not receiving the support they need from parents, school leaders or government to assist them in maintaining high standards of pupil behaviour."--NASUWT leader Chris Keates

While 51 percent of the children were spotted without necessary equipments, 61 percent of them reported not completing their homework.

To the utter surprise, children, sans pen and homework, were carrying mobile phones, iPod, and MP3 players with them.

Also, 44 percent of the teachers said that pupils in the school were not ready to learn, while 38 percent arrived late for school.

Parents not supporting teachers
Parents failed to spend quality time with their kids as they were busy combating the daily hectic schedule, and consequently, lack of supervision made children brush up on whatever they saw on TV or computer.

Teachers, during the meet, even complained that two in three teachers were not getting the desired support from parents.

Chris Keates, NASUWT leader, said, “Teachers are not receiving the support they need from parents, school leaders or government to assist them in maintaining high standards of pupil behaviour."

“Too many pupils arrive at school with mobile phones, iPods and MP3 players when teachers just wish they would bring a pen.”

Apart from the aforementioned issues, teachers even grumbled about the lack of support from their senior management in school.

15 children suspended everyday for attacking teachers
The Daily Mail reported that 15 children between 4 to 6 years of age were suspended from school everyday for attacking teachers.

According to the government figures revealed by Daily Mail, “Nearly nine in the same age group are banned daily for violent attacks on fellow pupils and a further nine a day for persistent disruptive behaviour.

“Three a day are sent home for using foul language to teachers.”
