Emma Watson quit Brown University due to bullying?

Emma is now busy working on a number of fashion projects before she turns her attention to promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in the build-up to its July release.

20-year-old British actress, Emma Watson of the Harry Potter fame might not return for her sophomore year at Brown University in Rhode Island this fall.

Denying recent reports that the star was quitting because of bullying, her spokeswoman announced Emma Watson is quitting the university to pursue an academic course that is not offered at the school.

Bullied with Harry Potter comments
Contrary to official reports, sources in America say that the real reason why she left Brown University is that she was fed up with the bullying and taunts from other students.

Emma who was studying European women's history and drama at the Rhode Island Ivy League institution, was said to have been a bright and enthusiastic student.

“I will still be working towards my degree... It's just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought. As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible."-- Emma Watson

However, while answering questions in class, she would often be subjected to jibes like "Three points for Gryffindor!"'

Gryffindor is one of the houses at Hogwarts School of wizardry, and the phrase was uttered in the films when a student made a correct reply.

Emma plays the role of Hermoine Granger in the Potter series and is known to have made more than 10 million from the films.

Emma taking time off to focus on professional commitments
Watson wrote on her blog that she decided to quit school temporarily to completely finish work on 'Harry Potter' and to focus on her other projects.

Stressing on her plans to continue her education she says, “I will still be working towards my degree... It's just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought. As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible."

Other incidents at Brown
When she started her course in September 2009, Emma admitted being “scared” that she would not fit in.

There have also been reports of another incident where, while attending a Brown-vs-Harvard football game in Cambridge, Watson was stalked by Harvard students in her school’s section.

She was bombarded with phrases from the film as she watched a collegiate football game and had to be escorted by security guards. Despite the harassment, she stayed for the whole game.

Another source said Watson's freshman roommate signed strict confidential agreements before moving in with her.
