Windows 7, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft, has become the fastest selling operating system after Microsoft sold more than 350 million licenses of Windows 7 in 18 months of its release.
In a blog post on Friday, Brandon LeBlanc wrote, “18 months ago to this day was when we launched Windows 7 and with that we’ve hit another important milestone: we are pleased to announce that Windows 7 has sold more than 350 million licenses.”
Launched in Oct. 22, 2009, Windows 7 is an improvised version of Windows Vista. Surprisingly, within 11 months of its launch, Microsoft, one of the leading tech giants, had sold 175 million Windows 7 licenses.

Contemplating the escalating demands and popularity of Windows 7 in the market, this operating system seems to surpass its preceding version, Windows Vista.
“Samsung enhanced IT security; simplified IT maintenance, which resulted in a 20 percent cost savings; and improved employee productivity.”--Samsung.
More than 60 million Windows 7 licenses were sold out by Microsoft post three months of its release. By the end of 2010, around 20 percent of the market was acquired by Windows 7.
Microsoft is amazed with the positive feedback received from its customers.
“Analyst firms like IDC estimate that more than 90% of businesses are currently in progress with their Windows 7 migrations,” said Brandon.
Microsoft even notified that companies using Windows 7 save an average of $140 per PC each year, subsequently resulting in 131 percent return on investments in more than 12 months.
“We’ve done a lot in the last 18 months that improves upon the experience people have on their PCs with Windows 7. We launched Windows Live Wave 4 (which included Windows Live Essentials 2011 and enhancements to Hotmail), released the first service pack for Windows 7, and recently launched Internet Explorer 9,” said Brandon.
“And we’re hard at work on further innovation for Windows. At CES this year we announced the next version of Windows will support System on a Chip (SoC) and last week at MIX11 we released the first platform preview to developers for Internet Explorer 10.”
