Users who are not happy with service of AT&T will be more likely to buy the iPhone from Verizon.
Verizon, one of the largest wireless cellular service provider in the United States, has ceased taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4. A likely reason for this could be the fact that Verizon simply had limited stock of the iPhone 4.
The service provider had made it clear even before taking pre-order that its inventory is limited.
The wireless carrier stopped taking pre-orders somewhere around 8:00 pm New York time yesterday. They maxed out in mere 17 hours.
According to Dan Mead, chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless, the smartphone has broken all records at Verizon when it comes to first-day sales.
The company had already predicted a promising profit rate this year owing to the newly launched smartphone.
Mike Abramsky, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto, said, “Verizon probably sold less than 100,000 iPhones before shutting down pre-orders.”
AT&T vs. Verizon
Verizon offers stiff competition to AT&T, the other big wireless carrier in the USA.
AT&T was the exclusive carrier for iPhone till now. Verizon’s robust performance in terms of the number of iPhones sold so far bodes extremely well for the company. Verizon declined to comment on the total number of phones sold thus far.

Reviews have already begun pouring in for Verizon’s iPhone but it seems that Verizon is at a slight disadvantage.
Apparently, Verizon’s iPhone does not support simultaneous voice and data transfer. The CDMA/EVDO technology that Verizon has does not support this feature.
How important this is for consumers will only come to light after a comparison is made between the sales of Verizon and AT&T.
Most users say that the voice quality on Verizon’s network is far superior compared to AT&T, and Verizon offers a better service.
Some users say that despite these merits, data transfer rates on Verizon have always been less than the ones on AT&T.
A breath of fresh air for consumers
Nevertheless, the news of an iPhone 4 from Verizon is good news for many Americans, as AT&T was so far the only cellular service provider selling the iPhone.
