Halle Berry quits film to prepare for custody battle with ex

As speculated, Halle Berry is embroiled in a legal battle with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubrey. The Hollywood actress is fighting ex for custody of their two-year-old daughter, according to multiple tabloid reports, citing her rep as confirming the news.

The 44-year-old Oscar-winning actress has a daughter, Nahla Ariela (born March 2008), with the 35-year-old French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubrey.

The duo called it quits amicably last year after 5 years of dating. The onetime pair reportedly continued to maintain a close relationship for raising their child even after the split.

The rep told the magazine that Berry is seeking "swift judicial intervention" where the custody of their daughter Nahla is concerned.

But the duo’s amicable split is seemingly getting nasty and the actress is preparing to for the custody battle for their toddler daughter.

Citing a rep for the Hollywood star, Us Weekly is reporting that Berry has pulled out of the upcoming star-studded flick, 'New Year's Eve,' which is set to begin filming in NYC this week, so that she can take Aubry to court in a custody battle.

The rep told the magazine that Berry is seeking "swift judicial intervention" where the custody of their daughter Nahla is concerned.

Lat month, Aubry asked the court to officially declare him the daddy of the couple’s toddler daughter, Nahla.

The Canadian model filed papers Dec. 30 in Los Angeles Superior Court, seeking joint physical and legal custody of their daughter along with support.

In response to Aubrey’s legal filing, Berry has also launched a legal battle.

In a statement to UsMagazine.com, Berry’s rep said, “Halle Berry was forced to pull out of a film production in New York this week due to pending custody litigation involving her daughter. She has attempted to resolve these custody issues amicably with her daughter's father, Gabriel Aubry, directly, but given his lack of cooperation, Halle has no choice but to seek swift judicial intervention.

“Halle has serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her.

“Halle has always made the needs and safety of her daughter her first priority and, both while Halle and Gabriel were a couple and since their break-up, Halle has only acted in her daughter's best interest.”
