The 47-year-old glam rocker checked into the Arizona medical facility for the procedure on Saturday.
Bret’s surgical procedure
According to The Associated Press, Michaels' procedure involved a cardiac catheterization, in which doctors inserted a catheter into a vein in Michaels' groin and directed wires and a closure device into the heart. Cameras are used to assist the doctors as they implanted the device.
In order to maintain normal blood flow between two chambers of his heart, the closure device will stay inside the rocker permanently.
A day checking into the hospital on Saturday night, the Celebrity Apprentice's third-season champ told The Arizona Republic newspaper: "Barring any complications, I should be out within three or four days. Then, I will be down (resting) for three weeks. I don't know if I can sit around for that long, but I'll try my best."
