In a joint note on the pop star's website, the onetime lovebirds announced that they have split up.
The statement revealed that the former couple who are also business partners actually broke up last August, but kept the details private until now, according to Daily Mail.
“During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another,” they wrote.
“They have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners."
The two "view this period of separation as temporary."

Despite the break-up, de la Rua will continue to oversee the 33-year-old pop star’s business and career interests, the tabloid reports.
The statement continued, “We move forward as partners, developing projects together, working hand in hand and in close communication.
"Antonio continues to oversee and conduct my business and career interests as he has always done.
“Our friendship and understanding of one another is unwavering and indestructible.”

Born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll on Feb. 2, 1977, the pop star is known professionally as Shakira.
She is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, and philanthropist who emerged in the music scene of Colombia and Latin America in the early 1990s.
In 1995 she released Pies Descalzos, which brought her great fame in Latin America and Spain, and her 1998 album Dónde Están los Ladrones was a critical success.
In 2001, her music video for "Whenever, Wherever" earned her the extreme popularity, and the release of 'Laundry Service' sold over 13 million copies worldwide, gained her fame in the English-speaking world.
She shot to extreme fame particularly with the best selling song of the 2000s, "Hips Don't Lie."
Shakira began dating De la Rua, the son of former president of Argentina Fernando de la Rúa, back in 2000.
Antonio, who is a lawyer, and Shakira have been seen together at many important events, including visiting Dominican Republic former president Hipólito Mejía and U.S. President Barack Obama.
