Chrysler recalls 121000 Dodge Journey and Ram 1500

So far there have been no reports of fires or injuries due to the wiring problem, but the company had received 23 complaints related to air bag lamp.

Chrysler has announced the recall of more than 121,000 Dodge Journey crossover and Ram 1500 pickup for three different problems associated with airbags, steering and rear axle, according to according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Detroit based automaker, Chrysler Group LLC is presently being managed by Fiat of Italy.

Three recalls scheduled
The first and the biggest recall involves 65,180 2009 model Dodge Journey SUVs for faulty wires in the front door wiring harness.

The second recall is of the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck for a fault in the rear axle of the vehicle. Nearly 56,611 2011 model vehicles have been recalled after the company feared that some of these have inadequate lubricant, which might trigger bearing failure.

The defective wires can break and deactivate the side air bags, thus rendering them nonfunctional at the time of crash.

The company has also said in its filing that in such a case of air bags become dysfunctional, the driver would be immediately alerted through a warning light on the dashboard.
