Mark's suicide comes exactly two years after the arrest of his father in the $65 billion Ponzi scheme, the worst investment fraud in American history.
Mark Madoff, eldest son of Bernard Madoff who at present is serving prison term for running a Ponzi scheme, has committed suicide.
Mark's body was found hanging from a ceiling pipe in his apartment. Police officials of New York City say Mark had hanged himself with a dog leash, Associated Press reported.
The body was found by his father-in-law. His wife Stephanie had sent her father to couple's apartment after she received a e-mail from Mark at Disney World, Florida, where she was vacationing with their 4-years-old daughter.
The message stated that that someone should come to check on their 2-years-old son who was staying with him.
This made Stephanie skeptical and she called on her father to go check the apartment. While the body of Mark was hanging from the ceiling, the couple's son was found sleeping in the next bedroom.

Mark and his brother were never charged
Mark and his younger brother Andrew worked in their father’s company but had always denied any involvement in the fraudulent activities.
In fact it was Mark, who first reported the activities of their father to the authorities.
Though the authorities never charged both the brothers, they were being investigated for tax invasions.
Mark and his family have been sued by duped investors and trustees. Only a few days ago, the trustees sued Mark and his brother over the money they allegedly received from their father.
Mark was under tremendous pressure
Both the brothers are reported to have not spoken to their father for the last two years.
Mark and his younger brother Andrew worked in their father’s company but had always denied any involvement in the fraudulent activities.
The Wall Street Journal quoted a family spokesperson saying that 46-years-old Mark “was unalterably bitter about his father’s deception.”
Bernard Madoff is presently serving his 150 year sentence.
Family lawyer, Martin Flumenbaum, told that Mark “was an innocent victim of his father’s monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo.”
The investors who were cheated by Mark’s father felt sad about the demise of Mark but said that the brothers were more concerned about fishing and fleece vests instead of sinister frauds.
George Christin from Bradford, who lost $2.5 million in Madoff’s Ponzi scheme said, “I don’t wish this on anyone- I really don’t. This kid didn’t have a chance. When you grow up with a father whose morals are so corrupt, what chance do you have of developing your own moral compass?”
