Travoltas' new son arrives! They call him Benjamin

The new baby has born almost two years after the death of couple's son Jett.

New addition to Travolta family
A publicist for the couple states the Travoltas welcomed a baby boy Tuesday in Florida, and they named their new son Benjamin.

After slightly more than a year-long mourning of sudden demise of their young son Jett, the star couple Travolta and Preston announced their pregnancy in May.

Born at an undisclosed Florida hospital, the baby boy weighed eight-pound, three-ounce.

Travolta, 56, and 48-year-old Preston announced the happy news in a statement released by their spokeswoman Samantha Mast.

"John, Kelly and their daughter Ella Bleu are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family," reads the statement, according to People.com. "Both mother and baby are healthy and doing beautifully."

Unveiled pregnancy news
After slightly more than a year-long mourning of sudden demise of their young son Jett, the star couple Travolta and Preston announced their pregnancy in May.

The couple, who kept a low profile since Jett’s death, took to their website to announce that they are expecting a new addition to their family, calling the pregnancy a ‘miracle,’ reports Daily Mail.

“It's impossible to keep a secret - especially one as wonderful as this.

“We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family.

“We tried for several years, and we didn't think it was going to happen for us. This is a miracle, and we feel blessed,” they wrote at the time.

Preston was enjoying pregnancy
Earlier this year Preston spoke about her pregnancy, saying she can’t wait becoming a new mom.

According to Daily Mail, she said, “It's been very easy and so wonderful.

“I've had no morning sickness and [the pregnancy] has gone by so quickly. I feel terrific.

“I can't wait for the day to come.'

Family was excited to welcome new addition
In September, Preston told People that the entire family was preparing to welcome their new addition as her pregnancy neared its end.

"I've been cleaning out everything in the house," Preston told the magazine at the time. "Ella has been helping too. She's looking forward to being a big sister."

About star couple and their devastating period
Benjamin is the third child for Travolta and Preston, who were married in 1991. They are parents to a daughter, Ella Bleu, born in 2000, and their eldest child, son Jett, died last year at the age of 16.

Travoltas have been through so much rough time in recent months, starting with the tragic death of their teen son Jett.

On the morning of Jan. 2, 2009, Travoltas’ then only son Jett had died of a massive seizure at the age of 16 while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas.

The teen was found dead in the bathroom of the Travolta vacation house in Grand Bahama by the caretaker Jeff Kathrain.

The Travoltas were also the victim of an alleged $32 million extortion plot over their son's death.

Since the death of their son, the 'Grease' actor and his actress wife had kept a low profile and tried to stay strong for their only daughter, Ella Bleu.

The couple struggled to overcome their grief, with Travolta coming out in public eye in January to promote his comedy adventure movie ‘From Paris with Love’ and Preston appearing in the Miley Cyrus movie ‘The Last Song’ in April.
