Jennifer Grey wins 'DWTS' crown, Bristol finishes third

After winning a near-perfect 118 out of 120 in her final four dances Monday and Tuesday with partner Derek Hough, Grey became the season 11 winner of 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Jennifer Grey is the newest dance-floor champ! The actress has won the championship of ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars' ballroom-dance contest, sending Bristol Palin home empty-handed on Tuesday's result show

On Tuesday's season-11 finale of 'Dancing with the Stars,' the 50-year-old actress grabbed the mirrorball trophy, beating out fellow finalists Disney Channel star Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin, daughter of author/politician Sarah Palin.

Massey and Palin both are at least 30 years younger than Grey.

Talent wins
Grey and her pro partner Derek Hough scored perfect 30's on both their dances on Monday night, despite suffering from a back injury.

After winning a near-perfect 118 out of 120 in her final four dances Monday and Tuesday with partner Derek Hough, Grey became the season 11 winner of 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Earlier in the night, Grey told host Tom Bergeron that she ruptured a disc during Monday’s performances.

In spite of injuring a disk in her back, Grey performed so well, that the judges were blown away, with one of the judges Bruno Tonioli saying he wished he could give her an 11 rather than the maximum score of 10.

"You are the complete package," judge Len Goodman told Jennifer.

Grey is the champ
After the nail-biting two-hour finale, Grey took the mirror ball trophy after a series of nearly flawless performances.

"We actually never thought about winning," she said Tuesday night after winning the title. "Our goal was always to do memorable dances."

When Grey was named the dancing queen, her dancing partner jumped up and down from excitement.

“We collaborated so much and I think that this guy is so talented in terms of concept and execution and attention to detail,” Grey said of her partner Derek Hough. “He wants to make memorable dances, which is what he told me when I met him. That’s why I was so completely thrilled and blessed to get him as a partner. He’s the real deal. He gets the big picture.”

With his latest win, Hough has become the show's first three-time winner. Earlier, he has won the show with Nicole Scherzinger and Brooke Burke.

Overcame her injury
Earlier in the night, Grey told host Tom Bergeron that she ruptured a disc during Monday’s performances.

”I think it might have been one of those flips or kicks [that caused the rupture],” she said. “When you dance with a 25 year old, it’s a risk you take.”

With a cold compress tied to her back, Grey said when the show hosts were about to name the winner she was "in a surrender moment. I felt whatever happens would be great, because the absolute destination for me was the journey."

The runner ups
Kyle Massey finished the season in second place with 26 points and Bristol Palin came in third place with 25 points.

Palin and her dancing pro Mark Ballas scored 104 from the judges for the final two nights, while Massey, with pro partner Lacey Schwimmer, scored 110.

Before the winner’s announcement, Palin said winning would be like "a big middle finger to all the people out there that hate my mom and hate me."

And, about finishing third, she said, "It feels great. It feels wonderful. I really didn't have that many expectations going into this. I thought I'd be voted off in Week 1. So I feel very thankful and blessed."
