Disney star Demi Lovato seems to be in trouble. The starlet has had to pull out of her ‘Camp Rock 2’ tour with the Jonas Brothers to check into an in-patient treatment center for help with “emotional and physical issues,” her rep said in a statement on Monday.
The 18-year-old singer-actress has previously been beleaguered by eating disorders and self-mutilation.
Demi in trouble, seeks help
Lovato was three months into a world tour with the Jonas Brothers when she had to drop out of it for her personal good.
“Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” said her publicist, carefully avoiding to use the term “rehab” for her treatment.
“Demi and her family ask that the media please respect their privacy during this difficult time. She regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future."--Demi's rep
“Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help,” the statement said. “She is doing just that.”
Besides her successful solo music career, Lovato has co-starred in Disney's 'Camp Rock' movies. She also plays the lead in Disney's TV series 'Sonny With a Chance.'
About two years ago, Demi was reported to have cut herself due to some emotional issues. Back then, her publicist declined the reports, saying she has been into showbiz from a very young age and faces some problems due to the tremendous pressure that comes with her work.
Problems of the past romance?
However, this time her problems are reported to be linked to her short romance with Joe Jonas, which recently came to an end.
Apparently, Demi had a physical clash with a female member of the tour, which triggered her trip to treatment facility. The female that Demi fought is suspected to be Joe Jonas' new girlfriend Ashley Greene, who was photographed in Ecuador with the Jonas Brothers this week.Despite her split from Joe, Demi tried to maintain an amicable work relationship with him. “You have to, cause you work with him,” she told Celebuzz last month. “When you’re hurt, it’s easy to move on, so it was very easy for me to move on.”
Demi regrets going off the tour
Lovato was scheduled to perform in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Tuesday, followed by concerts in Chile, Brazil. However, she will have to skip a few dates, but is looking to get back to work, as soon as she starts feeling fine. “Demi and her family ask that the media please respect their privacy during this difficult time,” said her rep.
“She regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.”
