Verizon hiring staff, preparing for iPhone launch?

Market experts believe flurry of rushed activity at the two call centers associated with Verizon Wireless is a indication that Apple’s iPhone is indeed coming to the network.

After reports that Verizon Wireless is hiring call center employees in large numbers via third-party companies, speculations are rife that largest wireless network in the nation is gearing up to launch tApple’s popular device iPhone on its network.

A report recently released by CNN suggested that two call centers, Teleperformance and Ryla, who have previous experience of working with Verizon, are in process of hiring thousands of new customer care representatives who would be handling “inbound customer service calls for a major wireless cell phone service retailer.”

However, no official statement has been released, but reports are suggesting that Ryla is looking to hire approximately 1,700 new customer care representatives across Indiana, Colorado, Virginia, and California.

Though there are no details available for Teleperformance, some reports are suggesting that the company is hiring staff for Pennsylvania positions.

Tim Sheehan at the daily newspaper The Fresno Bee that serves Fresno, California and the other surrounding counties in that United States stated, "The new hires will be answering customer-service calls on behalf of a Ryla client identified only as a Fortune 500 cellular/telecommunications company that expects to increase its marketing and sales."

Indirect indications
Market experts believe flurry of rushed activity at the two call centers associated with Verizon Wireless is a indication that Apple’s iPhone is indeed coming to the network.

However, no official statement has been released by the either call center, but reports are suggesting that Ryla is looking to hire approximately 1,700 new customer care representatives across Indiana, Colorado, Virginia, and California.

They are also taking cues from a statement recently given by the vice president of recruiting for Teleperformance, Marcie Ballard, to the Augusta Chronicle, in which she confirmed that the company is indeed hiring new customer care staff for their old client.

"It is for a major wireless company that we have secured a new line of business, one of our existing clients," said Ballard in her interview.

However, when asked to reveal the name of the company, Ballard refused to comment on the subject.

As per major news outlets like Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal, Apple is all set to release Verizon iPhone or iPhone CDMA phone sometime in the first quarter of 2011.
