Courteney Cox and David Arquette: separated but still in love?

There is no bitterness, Arquette insists. They are just another couple, who decided to separate on amicable terms.

The 11-year marriage of Courteney Cox and David Arquette has fallen apart, but their relationship has not. Arquette says the two are still in love.

Sources close to the couple revealed that their marriage had been thorny for quite sometime and the couple officially announced their separation on Monday.

They explained that they were parting ways to “to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage.”

Still in love?
There is no bitterness, Arquette insists. They are just another couple, who decided to separate on amicable terms.

He called in to ‘The Howard Stern Show’ on Tuesday to address the rumors being circulated about the problems in the couple’s marriage.

According to the buzz, Cox was getting close to her ‘Cougar Town’ co-star Brian Van Holt, which caused some strain in her marriage to David Arquette. But Arquette rubbished the rumors saying, “She may have seen a guy who talked,” but he has not caused any rift between them.

In fact, Arquette says he is still with Cox. “We're still in love with each other. We're still best friends ... we're not divorcing. We're figuring our lives out,” he said.

Courteney tired of mothering husband
The FRIENDS star was tired of mothering her husband, and on their 11th wedding anniversary, she told him, “I don't want to be your mother anymore.”

Cox had started getting irritated of David’s odd habits, which had once made her fall in love. Now, she found it embarrassing at times. “When I met her 16 years ago that was charming, part of the aspect she fell in love with,” said the actor. “[But] that stuff starts getting old.”

While Courteney and David were separated, he slept with actress and cocktail waitress Jasmine Waltz.

“I did have sex with her one time, maybe twice... my sexual encounter made me feel pretty manly,” he admits. “She’s, like, ‘listen, I want you to be able to do whatever you have to do.’ ’’

David’s respect for Courteney
David respects Courteney, and her decision to separate from him. “She's an amazing woman,” he said. “If it doesn't feel right, she doesn't feel like bonding in that way.”

Though Arquette, 39, and Cox, 46 had been having issues for quite sometimes, they always put up a united face in front of their 6-year-old daughter, Coco.

The couple’s trial separation is “not an overnight thing,” a source close to the pair told People. “They needed to figure things out and try to find a happy place again.”
