Fox 5 reporter held for sexual assault of 4-year-old

Fox 5 reporter Charles Leaf has been accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl

Award-winning Fox 5 reporter Charles Leaf has been accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl, apparently at his home in Wyckoff. The 41-year-old newsman was arrested at his home in New Jersey on Tuesday.

He was held on sexual assault charges, according to the Bergen County Sheriff's website.

John L. Molinelli, Bergen County Prosecutor, confirmed that Leaf had been charged with “aggravated sexual assault on a minor and endangering the welfare of children,” reported the Associated Press.

Bail for the accused reporter was set at $250,000.

Assaulting minor at home
According to reports, the four-year-old girl involved in this case was a family acquaintance of Leaf and was at home in N.J., when she was sexually abused.

Allegedly, he was accused of “digitally penetrating a minor and masturbating in front of the youngster several times in recent weeks,” according to Cliffview Pilot. The charges on Leaf include one count of aggravated sexual assault, one count of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Newsman makes the wrong kind of news
Leaf started working for Fox 5 in 2006 and his resume on MYFOXNY.COM reveals that he is the winner of two Emmy awards.

The network is apparently not trying to cover its employee, as they posted the details of his filthy story on their website, along with a mug shot of Leaf.

He has appeared on various FOX News shows including America Live with Megyn Kelly, FOX & Friends, The FOX Report, Geraldo at Large, On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, and The O’Reilly Factor and reportedly worked on the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme scandal, both locally and nationally.

He also covered other national stories including the proposed development of a mosque near the World Trade Center.

“Fox 5 is aware of the situation and is looking into the matter,” said a spokeswoman for the station. The network is apparently not trying to cover its employee, as they posted the details of his filthy story on their website, along with a mug shot of Leaf.

Leaf’s tainted history
Leaf, who is married man and the father of two kids, is also an ex-Marine and rose to the rank of sergeant in his five years of service.

The status of his legal representation is presently unclear.

Leaf does not have a clean employment history. Published reports suggest that he left his reporting post at WPMI in Mobile, Ala. in 1999, after a local councilwoman sued him for allegedly assaulting her while attempting to interview her for a story. No criminal charges were filed in relation to the incident.
