Spencer Pratt apologetic or is it another publicity stunt?

After an year of marriage, Heidi recently filed for divorce from Spencer Pratt.

However, he pressurized her to work with him on another show, openly admitting that he is a “fame-whore” and would release sex tapes of her with Playboy Playmate Karissa Shannon, if she refuses to comply with him.

However, Pratt’s conscience seems to have suddenly ignited.

The 27-year-old now says his behavior towards Heidi was “outrageous and infantile.” Separation from his wife apparently pushed him over the edge, bringing out a dangerously ambitious side of him.

“Divorce can be a trying, draining, and emotionally devastating experience for all involved,” Pratt told People magazine in a recent interview.

“Despite these hardships, most individuals manage to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity. I did not – I failed spectacularly.”

Admitting that he horribly messed up his relationship with Montag, Pratt has issued a public apology. “I horribly embarrassed the one person that meant the world to me,” he said. “For my outrageous and infantile behavior, I offer Heidi my most sincere apologies.”

Though he did not talk about his annoying behavior in detail, Pratt was apparently referring to the way he threatened Heidi about her sex tape, attacked her on twitter and stalked her on a vacation in Costa Rica.

He went on to praise Heidi for her contribution towards their relationship, and, at the same time, admitted that his actions were not justified.

“Over the years, her love, support, and friendship were always given, but never properly cherished. I let her down,” said Pratt. “She never deserved the pain and anguish I put her through, and although I don't expect it, I hope in time she'll be able to forgive me.”

Pratt acknowledged that things between them have changed now, but said, “I will always count her among my best friends.”

So much for publicity?
While this sudden outburst of emotions from Spencer might seem startling, a source close to the reality stars has revealed that Heidi and Spencer had deliberately staged this episode. It is apparently a part of their self-promotion scheme.

“They are not really breaking up. It's disgusting and vile, but Spencer will do anything to keep his fame...Whatever they do, though, will be together. He is doing nothing behind her back,” the insider told UsMagazine.com.
