Faith Evans arrested for drunk driving

This is not the first time the R&B singer has landed in trouble with the law. Back in 2004, Evans and her husband, Todd Russaw, got arrested in Atlanta over charges of drug possession. The couple managed to avoid jail time by agreeing to enter a 13-week pretrial drug-abuse intervention program.

Singer/actress Faith Evans was caught driving drunk on Saturday night. She was stopped at a police checkpoint in a Los Angeles beach community, and was found culpable. Evans was arrested around 10:40 p.m. and released on bail the following morning.

Los Angeles Police Department's Officer Cleon Joseph told the Times, that Saturday night they took the singer into police custody at a checkpoint near Marina del Rey.

After keeping her in custody for several hours, the police let off the singer early Sunday morning, pending formal charges. Evan’s car was impounded.

‘Again’ in law trouble?
This is not the first time the R&B singer has landed in trouble with the law. Back in 2004, Evans and her husband, Todd Russaw, got arrested in Atlanta over charges of drug possession. The couple managed to avoid jail time by agreeing to enter a 13-week pretrial drug-abuse intervention program.

She mentioned the incident in her 2005 single ‘Again.’

"In ATL, I caught a case/ And the media tried to say, I had a habit/ I couldn't manage, and I'm throwing my life away," belted out the singer.

Faith Evans first came into the spotlight when she was signed as the female artist to Bad Boy Entertainment in 1994.

Rap's most famous widow
She became "Rap's most famous widow" after her first husband, Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G" Wallace, was murdered in a yet-unsolved drive-by shooting in Los Angeles, California in March 1997.

"I want people to understand that although he was a large part of my life, my story doesn't actually begin or end with Big's death. My journey has been complicated on many levels," said Faith Evans

Evans paid tribute to him via her song “I’ll be missing you,” which featured all-male group 112, and became a number-one hit. The song won her a Grammy award in 1998.

Evans relationship with B.I.G. had not been very smooth as he had several affairs outside his marriage. The singer shed light on her controversial relationship with her late husband though her biography called ‘Keep the Faith: A Memoir,’ which was released on Aug. 29, 2008.

She acknowledged his contribution but said that there was more to her.

“I want people to understand that although he was a large part of my life, my story doesn't actually begin or end with Big's death. My journey has been complicated on many levels,” she said.

Her book made it to the Top 20 on New York's Best Seller's List.

Back to business
The singer has been on a break for the past few years but last year she told MTV news that she was looking to get back to music. “I've been taking a lot of meetings, and I've been enjoying my freedom, not being tied down to anything other than my family. I'm ready to record again."

A reality series chronicling Evans' life is reportedly in production, and her new album is scheduled to release in October.
