Hot on the heals of 'Glee' star's Emmy nomination, the famous gay celebrity couple has announced that they are expecting twins through a surrogate mother.
Dads-to-be excited
E! online was the first to report that Harris and Burtka are expecting bundles of joy.
Later, the parents-to-be took to Twitter to confirm the happy news.
“So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy...” tweeted Harris.
According to multiple tabloid reports, the 'How I Mey Your Mother' co stars have sought help from a surrogacy agency in Los Angeles, and the babies are due in October.
Harris, Burtka finally to become parents together
The news that the longtime gay partners are expecting babies comes after more than a year, when speculations were rife that the duo was looking for a surrogate mother to bear their child.
Rumors also had it that the pair had turned to Growing Generations, the agency also used by Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick to seek a surrogate mother.
But soon Harris had rubbished the baby reports saying that they were currently not expecting a baby, adding,“Maybe someday.”
The day has finally here for the couple.

Apart from being thrilled about the twins coming to the family, the star, who had recently directed a production of 'Rent,' and his partner, actor and chef Burtka, are brimming with excitement over Emmy nominations.
Harris, the American actor,magician, singer and director has bagged three Emmy nominations, one for his role as Barney Stinson on CBS' situation comedy 'How I Met Your Mother,' second for outstanding guest actor in comedy series 'Glee, and third for hosting Tony Awards in 2009.
With the Emmy awards scheduled for Aug. 29, and the twins arrival in October, the multi-talented star may indeed have his hands full coming fall.
Little about the couple's relationship
Harris and Burtka have been seeing each other since 2004. But the duo's relationship came to light two years later when Burtka made a guest appearance on 'How I Met Your Mother.'
Soon Harris quelled gay rumors and confirmed in a interview with PEOPLE that he is a “very content gay man.” Later he even announced his relationship with Burtka.
Since then the duo have made many public appearances together and have been quite open about their relationship.
In May this year Burtka had tweeted, “My boyfriend is the BEST! He has been surprising me with so much! I am the luckiest man in the world!”
On Saturday, the proud dads-to-be were spotted together in Disneyland. Seems they are preparing for their role as parents. We wish them all the best.
