Spencer said his relationship with estranged wife is still “friendly” but admitted their relationship was a “constant battle” since their wedding.
Fans and friends of Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have been skeptical of the couple’s relationship status ever since reports of their split emerged earlier this year. Now, the reality TV star Spencer has confirmed that he actually ditched his wife because he loves the media more than his wife.
The Hills couple Spencer, 26, and Heidi, 23, who married last year in April, split earlier this year, thanks to the actor’s crazy behavior in recent months.
Since their separation reports, Heidi has been hiding, while Spencer has been in spotlight for his crazy acts, including an obsession with crystals and guns.
Spencer, who's other acting credits include playing himself in 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!,' tried to crash 'The Hills' season finale party, but was escorted away from the hotel.
Although, the fame hungry reality show couple split in June after slightly more than a year of marriage, doubts had lingered because of their well-known love for media attention.
Pratt too consumed by celebrity
Now, Spencer has acknowledged that his split with the plastic princess is a real deal, reports People magazine.
The former 'Hills' star said Montag does not want to be a part of "Speidi," their infamous moniker as a couple, any more.
The reality TV star, who has since grown a bizarre beard, chose to fame over his doomed marriage to Heidi.
"We love each other but I'm a famewhore and I'll never grow out of it," he tells People. "[Heidi] knows that and doesn't want that."
Media-loving personality
Admitting that he loves the media more than his wife, Spencer says, "I want every kind of press. She believes in bad press. There's no way my love for fame and her love for puppies will ever work out successfully. She just wants to hike and hang out and be calmer."
”Speidi” sans Heidi
The former 'Hills' star said Montag does not want to be a part of "Speidi," their infamous moniker as a couple, any more.
Heidi "doesn't want to be Speidi anymore," adding "She wants to be Heidi Montag: the sex symbol. She thought I'd burn out of this, but no, I'm still the same Spencer who went on 'The Hills' to be famous."
He added, "I still need to do stunts and take cues from Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise."
Spencer said his relationship with estranged wife is still “friendly” but admitted their relationship was a “constant battle” since their wedding.
"It's been a constant battle since we got married," he said. “She would be like, 'Are you really tweeting that? Are you really doing that?’”
On his current focus
On what is next for the media-crazy reality personality, Spencer he told People magazine, "I'm switching it up. I've already gone for the blonde, spiky-haired look. Now I'm going for the Hollywood producer look. I'm an artist now. I have an easel and everything. I'm going for an art show and a gallery."
